Total War: Warhammer 3 is almost here, ready to close the trilogy with a perlious expedition throughout the Realms of Chaos. If you’re worried about your PC not being able to handle the game’s system requirements, you might be looking for the game’s config file location.
Like its predecessors, Total War: Warhammer 3 does have a config file that allows you to tweak a number of different settings and its location isn’t all that difficult to find. In case you haven’t ventured too deep into game folders before, this article will guide you right to it.
Where is the Total War: Warhammer 3 Config File located?
Total War: Warhammer III’s config file location is found inside your AppData folder, which is likely not the most obvious place on your hard drive. If you plan on tinkering with it, you’ll want to head to the following path:
- X:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\scripts\preferences.script.txt
Open the file using Notepad or similar software and you’ll be able to manually tweak your game’s resolution, settings like SSAO or fog, lord portraits, and many others.
Although many of these do seem to have direct correspondents in the game’s actual options menu, it’s worth treading with care, as changing the wrong setting can yield unexpected results.
Nonetheless, that’s what you need to know about Total War: Warhammer 3’s config file location. For more on the game, here’s what we know about when Mortal Empires might launch and how far its multiplayer extends.
Total War: Warhammer 3 launches on PC on February 17. You can grab it from Fanatical, other major storefronts, as well as Xbox Game Pass.
