Total War: Warhammer 3 is no longer releasing this year. Developer Creative Assembly today announced its decision to delay the upcoming strategy game until early 2022, so it “can accomplish more than we could if we rushed to release this year.”
While Total War: Warhammer 3’s delay will inevitably disappoint some fans, the developer has promised to share more details about the title and its factions, starting with the global reveal of Grand Cathay, which is slated to take place tomorrow, September 14.
“The wait won’t be much longer, and we’ll have plenty of information for you in the meantime. The new date will make for a stronger release and the best first step into a new era of Total War: Warhammer,” Chief Product Officer Rob Bartholomew said in a statement.
“We don’t consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop’s fantasy universe to Total War.”
Grand Cathay’s reveal was mentioned back in July, prior to the developer taking a break from sharing details about Total War: Warhammer 3 and giving Troy’s Mythos DLC its time in the spotlight.
What we’ve seen so far of Kislev and Khorne’s unit rosters looks really promising, which leaves us with high hopes for Grand Cathay. We’ll learn what it brings to the battlefield tomorrow.
