Creative Assembly has shared a few new details regarding units, mechanics, and abilities coming with Total War: Warhammer 3’s patch 6.0 and upcoming DLC.
While the next major update is still “in the iteration period,” members of the development team have shed more light on how each of its three central races – the Ogre Kingdoms, Greenskins, and Khorne – are changing.
Total War: Warhammer 3 Patch 6.0 Arbaal the Undefeated
Before tackling the DLC launching alongside Warhammer 3’s 6.0 patch, it’s worth noting that all owners of the third entry in the series will receive a Free-LC which adds Arbaal the Undefeated as a playable Legendary Lord for Khorne.
From there, Khorne’s forces gain a new support lord in the shape of the Bloodspeaker, who specializes in buffing units around him while bringing a good amount of durability to the mix.
Khorngors expand the race’s anti-large options, while U’Zhul the Skulltaker’ Cloak of Skulls enhances the newest Legendary Lord’s defensive abilities in combat, progressively buffing his capabilities as an expert duelist.
Furthermore, Khornate factions also gain access to the Skull Throne mechanic, which allows them to trade earned skulls for temporary buffs that grant army abilities, spread Khorne corruption, and more.
The Ogre Kingdoms are set to receive the Paymaster Lord, which also fulfills a support role, specializing in “primarily enhancing a battle unit’s capabilities in combat.”
Warhammer III’s next DLC also gives everyone’s favorite mercenaries Pigback Riders. Comprised of piggybacking gnoblars – which is clear proof that the little dudes are tactical geniuses and shouldn’t be considered purely cannon fodder –, it serves as an anti-large infantry suited for the early game.
Furthermore, we’re also getting a Regiment of Renown of piggybacking gnoblars who, after venturing into Bretonnia have learned a thing or two from the knights there.
In addition to them, the Eshin Maneater is another Regiment of Renown, this time comprised of a lone Ogre that resembles a ninja and has “picked up a few stealthy and sneaky skills from the Skaven,” which by all accounts is a feat, given his size.
Creative Assembly also revealed one ability called Deadeye, that the Ogre Kingdoms’ next Legendary Lord, Golgfag Maneater, has access to. In practice, it allows him to use his pistol and eliminate foes from afar, which is perfect both when you’re about to head into battle and when that pesky enemy lord you’ve been dominating is trying to run away.
As part of the DLC accompanying Warhammer 3’s 6.0 update, the Greenskins get Snagla Grobspit as a legendary hero. The forest goblin rides a giant spider, so he’s bound to be an imposing sight on the battlefield despite his size, bringing skills, buffs, and abilities revolving around poison.
Lastly, The Night Goblin Big Boss also joins the Greenskin ranks, buffing Squigs, while Black Orcs with shields bring even more resilience to the roster.
The official trailer for the yet-to-be-named DLC is slated to drop later in November, when we should also see a series of gameplay showcases that are bound to include some of the units mentioned above.
