Square Enix has sent over word that the Tower of London’s Royal Armouries will exhibit a painstakingly crafted replica of Clive Rosfield’s Invictus sword from Final Fantasy 16.
This display will be accessible to the public for a limited time, from now until July 19th, and can be found on the first floor of the iconic White Tower. This marks the first occasion where a replica weapon from a video game has been showcased alongside the national collection of arms and armor in the United Kingdom. The Invictus sword holds particular significance as it is wielded by the game’s protagonist.

“It’s thrilling to see the historic art form of sword crafting continue to thrive in the videogame space and what better way to celebrate this than by displaying this exclusive sword from FINAL FANTASY XVI alongside the Royal Armouries collection of arms and armour,” said Emma Mawdsley, Keeper of Tower Armouries.
“We are always looking at ways to engage new audiences with our collections across the Museum’s three sites, so we’re very excited to welcome fans of the franchise and gamers alike to the Royal Armouries in the Tower of London.”
The elegant Invictus sword showcased at the Tower was expertly crafted by swordsmith, Tod Todeschini, who said: “Square Enix challenged me to bring the sword from Final Fantasy 16 to life from the digital world to the real world, therefore the first and most sizeable task was working out how to actually make it in reality.
“I knew from the very start, this was not going to be an ordinary sword and challenging in every way, but I’m very pleased with the finished sword and proud that it will be available for the fans to view alongside the Royal Armouries collection in the Tower of London.”</b>
Final Fantasy 16 is set to make its long-awaited debut this week, arriving on June 22nd for the PlayStation 5. While the release for PlayStation 5 is exclusive for now, details regarding the availability of the game on PC or Xbox platforms are yet to be disclosed.
There’s a demo available now on the PlayStation Store, which gives you roughly 2 hours of gameplay.
