Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has finally launched on PC as Sony’s track record for strong PC ports continues. Ported by Iron Galaxy Studios, it even works on Steam Deck.
However, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is a huge download, requiring over 120GB of HDD sapce, whether it’s on a PC or Steam Deck. But there is a way to make it more manageable, thankfully, as someone has put together a small mod on NexusMods that will shrink the collection by 27GB, getting it nearer the 100GB point.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection Mods
It’s a fairly simple solution, in the end, as the modder explains that it “is a simple language delete, that will save 27 GB of space and prevent the auto update from redownloading the deleted files”. And that’s one of the key elements, that it’ll stop any updates from just redownloading the space you freed up. Modder JRem explains: “Basically this just overwrites the non-English language files with blank files”.
How do you install this Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection Mod?
- Unzip in the game's root folder
JRem adds that “if you want to leave other languages in, don’t overwrite the language you want to keep or open the Zip file and delete your language in speech and speech-ttl”.
While this mod itself is for the PC version, it seems it could be possible to use it via Steam Deck. All you need to do is install Vortex Mod Manager via the Linux Desktop Mode of the Deck.
It’s worth noting that even with this mod, you will still have to download the full 130GB game to begin with, but it’s more about the fact you can reclaim some of the storage space you may not need. With SSDs not cheap to begin with, and with Steam Deck storage at a premium, 27GB could be another full game you can download if you follow these instructions.
