Set in a “low-fantasy setting” where you’ll find “no elves, dwarfs, dragons or other classical fantasy creatures”, Urtuk: The Desolation is a turn-based tactical RPG that dials up the misery and survival factor. Controlling a band of adventurers led by Urtuk himself, players are tasked with making sure they survive the trek across the harsh world while looking for a cure for Urtuk’s worsening condition. Their journey will inevitably thrust them into turn-based battles in which they must make use of the different characters’ abilities as well as the rough terrain in order to come out on top.
Pushing enemies off cliffs or onto lethal spikes is something you’ll get used to in Urtuk: The Desolation. At the same time, you’ll find that your characters can extract and learn skills from defeated foes, a process that can spontaneously change their role in combat. Whether it’s learning to retaliate, avoid lethal strikes or imbuing attacks with lifesteal, characters can also expand their abilities by performing certain actions in battle. You can find the title on Steam and check out our Urtuk: The Desolation gameplay video below for a lengthier look at the title.
