V Rising may be a vampire survival game, but it’s not just about ensuring there’s no garlic in your bolognese or wearing a big floppy hat in the sunshine. No, there’s crafting to be done, and one of the early tasks you’ll find yourself needing to do is crafting leather.
Leather has a multitude of uses, and key among them is upgrading your armor to prevent those bear maulings from being quite as deadly. It also proves to be quite handy in creating some important items and stations as well, so knowing how to craft leather is clearly something you’ll want to know as early on as possible.
How to get Leather in V Rising
You’ll need a Blood Altar before you can even think about making leather.There’s a bit of work to do first, however. There are several missions and base-building shenanigans you’ll need to get through before the knowledge of leathercraft is yours. Still, you can prepare for that day in advance.
During the game’s early hours you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stockpile the animal hides needed to go on a crafting fest later. It’s a good idea because it takes 16 hides for one piece of leather to be created. So build a chest to ensure you don’t clog up your personal inventory with skins. The most important point comes later when you are able to access the Tannery.
The Tannery allows you to craft leather and requires 8 wood planks and 160 animal hides to create. Good thing you’re stocking up on them then, eh?
The ability to craft a Tannery doesn’t occur until after a specific mission has been cleared. That mission requires you to take on a boss fight in the form of Keely the Frost Archer. You need to be around level 20 to tackle this boss, or it’s going to be a hard slog, so make sure you’re ready for it before consulting the Blood Altar for its whereabouts.
After vanquishing Keely, head back to your base, choose the Refinement section of the Build menu, and you’ll find the Tannery. Craft it, place it, and soon you’ll have more leather than a convention for hardcore bikers.
