As picturesque as Valheim’s lo-fi world can be, it’s also home to many dangerous creatures. You’ll need all the help you can get to face mythic beast and majestic boss alike, Serpent Meat being one item that can grant your Viking extra strength.
Unsurprisingly, Serpent Meat doesn’t grow on trees, and you’ll have to head to specific parts of Valheim’s map if you’re looking to return with a bag full of it. Read on below to find out more about its sources and how you can use it to your advantage.
Serpent Meat is a guaranteed drop obtained by killing Valheim’s Serpents. If you spend some time sailing across the game’s oceans, you’re bound to bump into them, as they’re not particularly fond of people – or boats, for that matter – intruding upon their territory.
Taking one down is easier when you’re teaming up with a friend and, regardless if you kill it in water or drag it onto land, Serpent Meat is a guaranteed drop. You can usually expect between 3 and 7 pieces of it from one kill.
Before you can fill your Viking tummy, you’ll have to waltz over to a Cooking Station and turn your fresh loot into Cooked Serpent Meat. It requires 61 seconds’ worth of cooking to reach an edible state, at which point it grants you an additional 70 health, 40 stamina, and 3 healing per tick for a total of 2000 seconds.
Leaving it to cook for 121 seconds or more turns the Serpent Meat into Coal, which is considerably less suitable for eating. These values may change throughout Early Access.
Alternatively, Cooked Serpent Meat is an ingredient used in crafting Serpent Stew, alongside Honey and Mushrooms. The stew grants even bigger bonuses, so it might be worth saving some of your meat for when you’ve also picked up the other ingredients.
