Valkyrie Elysium sees the Square Enix-published series returning to major consoles after a fairly lengthy hiatus and also debuting on PC for the first time in its history. Announced during March 2022’s State of Play event, that was when we learned the first details about its release date, gameplay, story, and more.
Valkyrie Elysium is developed by Japanese studio Soleil, who worked on titles such as Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time and the Nintendo Switch version of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. It mixes features from previous entries alongside new additions that push it into action-RPG territory. Here’s everything we know about it.
Valkyrie Elysium Release Date
Valkyrie Elysium’s release date is currently slated to occur on 29 September, as far as its console version is concerned. Its PC version will be available later, on November 11.
Valkyrie Elysium Story
Valkyrie Elysium’s world is inspired by Norse mythology, the latest entry in the series being set during Ragnarok and having players explore “a world that teeters on the brink of destruction.”
Entrusted with the fate of the world by the All-Father, protagonist Valkyrie is tasked with slashing her way through scores of enemies and uncovering the secrets behind the world-ending event.
Valkyrie Elysium Gameplay
Valkyrie Elysium retains the “innovative RPG gameplay, rich world and stories” of its predecessors and sees composer Motoi Sakuraba returning to write its score. It also adopts new gameplay elements to give it a more modern feel.
The action-RPG’s fast-paced, real-time combat system “rewards both fast reactions and strategic thinking” while letting you pull off stylish combos and finishing moves using both deadly weapons and magical abilities.
There’s a variety of nasty monsters to fight, from winged imp-like creatures to dragons and tall giants brandishing massive swords. Valkyrie can also summon warriors Einherjar to aid her in combat.
Valkyrie Elysium System Requirements
Publisher Square Enix has yet to talk about Valkyrie Elysium’s system requirements. We expect to learn more over the coming months and will update this section once we learn about the hardware we’ll need to run the game.
Where can you buy Valkyrie Elysium and how much does it cost?
Valkyrie Elysium’s price is set at 59,99€/59,99$ or your regional equivalent for its Standard edition. Its PC Deluxe edition will set you back 64,99€/64,99$. You will be able to find its PC version on Steam and its PlayStation version on the console’s dedicated store closer to release.
