Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room today unveiled Phyre as the player character in upcoming RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
Phyre is an Elder Kindred Embraced during the early 17th century, according to the publisher, and will benefit from fully-voiced conversations in Bloodlines 2.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Player Character
We will be able to customize Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2’s player character, choosing Phyre’s gender and clan, alongside their outfits, behavior, and the blood they feed on.
These choices impact how the denizens of Seattle react to the player character, as they make their way through the rebooted RPG’s story.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 offers a choice between four clans, which will be revealed on the game’s official website in the coming weeks.
Interestingly, Phyre is accompanied by “the strange and ever-present voice” of one Fabien, who helps us familiarize ourselves with the title’s version of Seattle.
These details may prove helpful when faced with the sequel’s branching dialog choices.
“Creating a character that resonates with players in the World of Darkness, yet shakes up what they know about Seattle, is a core pillar of our storytelling,” said Ian Thomas, Narrative Director at The Chinese Room.
“We maintain Vampire: The Masquerade’s essence and leverage its dark undertones to weave Phyre’s intricate narrative. Leveraging a protagonist adds weight to the narrative choices with room for players to customize Phyre’s background throughout the story. All these elements combine to create a deeply immersive experience that players expect from a Bloodlines game while maintaining our signature Chinese Room flair.”
You can learn more about Phyre and their role in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 by watching the livestream dedicated to narrative and RPG elements.
Barring any further delay, the sequel, whose story explores the theme of control, is expected to launch at some point in fall 2024.
