The latest unofficial fan patch for the cult classic RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines dropped today which continues the tradition of adding various fixes, enhancements, and new content to the game almost twenty years after its original release.
The most recent patch, version 11.4, refines cutscenes in the game and increases the damage for weapons like the Tiger Claws, and made the transition between first and third-person view casting animations less jarring. The maximum potential damage of all weapons has also been updated in the walkthrough and new information about hotkeys has been added to the tutorial. The file size for the patch is 571.32 MB.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Unofficial Patch 11.4 Releases
The game was developed by Troika Games and is based on the highly popular Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop game. When Vampire: The Masquerade -Bloodlines first released all the way back in 2004 it faced stiff competition from the likes of acclaimed shooters like Halo 2 and Half-Life 2 which resulted in tepid sales.
Critical reception wasn’t much better and reviews were split down the middle. Despite the game’s troubled release, it accumulated a devoted fan following which has continued to extensively support the game over the decades.
After its initial release, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines received limited support from Troika Games, which was shut down by Activision due to the game’s poor performance. Consequently, fans of the game took it upon themselves to address bugs and errors, leading to the creation of unofficial patches.
These patches were first introduced by Dan Upright and later largely spearheaded by Werner Spahl. Over the years, these fan-produced patches have fixed thousands of issues and significantly improved the game.
You can download the patch and view all official notes at ModDB.
An official sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, is in development under Paradox Interactive. Unfortunately, it has been delayed several times, and the identity of the new developer remains unknown after the original developers, Hardsuit Labs, were removed from the project.
We anticipate more information soon, with rumors suggesting that The Chinese Room could potentially take over development.
You can grab the original classic Bloodlines from our friends over at GOG.com.
