Publisher and developer Fatshark today announced that co-op first-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been delayed until Spring 2022.
Darktide was initially slated to launch later this year, although a fixed release date was never given. Now, we’ll have to wait longer before descending into the depths of the hive city of Tertium and slaughtering countless hordes of corrupted opponents.
“Today, we made the difficult decision to move our release date of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to the Spring of 2022,” Fatshark CEO and Co-founder Martin Wahlund said on Twitter.
He names the challenges of developing a game during the pandemic in tandem with the team’s desire to “deliver the best game we possibly can” as reasons for the delay.
“We are planning to use this extra time to both focus on the level of quality at release, as well as invest in more systems to support Darktide for years to come.”
While we won’t get to shoot and slash our way through Warhammer 40,000: Darktide until early next year, continued support for its older cousin, Vermintide 2, will make the wait a tad bit easier.
