With 2024’s Warhammer Skulls digital event now underway, publisher and developer Owlcat Games has officially unveiled Void Shadows as the first paid DLC for popular CRPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.
Promising around 15 hours’ worth of new content – all of it integrated into Rogue Trader’s main story – Void Shadows focuses on your voidship, allowing you to delve deeper into its depths and protect it from a new, insidious threat.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Void Shadows Release Date
Void Shadows was due to be released on the 8th of August, but unfortunately, it’s been delayed. It will now release on 24th September.
Here’s the statement on why it was delayed:
Today we are sad to announce that the release of the Void Shadows DLC is being moved from August 8th to September 24th.
We’ve been putting everything we have into the development of it, but we now see that while the new additions to the game are awesome, the technical quality is not quite there yet.
That’s why we’ve decided to spend some additional time on polishing and eradicating anything that might spoil your experience as you investigate the darkest corners of your voidship or romance a new companion.
We apologize for the delay in delivery, but we hope you understand our reasoning.
The DLC introduces additional quests, two new archetypes that add unique abilities for the Lord Captain, as well as more lore to uncover. The companion roster also expands, thanks to the addition of Kibellah, a Death Cult Assassin.
A loyal servant of the von Valancius dynasty, much like her predecessors, she also happens to be a potential romance option for the Lord Captain.
While exploring more of your voidship, you’ll also get to encounter other high-level officers who play a crucial role in both maintaining your vessel operational and how Void Shadows’ story unfolds.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s first DLC then introduces a Genestealer Cult as its primary antagonist.
As described by the publisher, these beings are “a horrific breed of xenos who work from the shadows and infect your crew with their genetic code to convert them and slowly twist their loyalties for their wretched goals.”
Furthermore, the ability to add a new hangar to the voidship allows you to bring fighters and bombers into the game’s space battles.
During the Warhammer Skulls 2024 event, the majority of the game’s editions will also benefit from a 30% discount.
