Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is now live but, although a significant number of heretic limbs have already been separated from heretic bodies, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Error Code 4008 and Failed Handshake Timeout issues continue to persist, making connecting to servers difficult for some players.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Failed Handshake Timeout issues have affected players during the game’s beta tests and it looks like they were either renamed to Error Code 4008 or the two have similar causes.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Error Code 4008
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Error Code 4008 can appear in multiple scenarios. You can encounter it when attempting to connect to the Mourningstar, when switching Operatives, or joining matches.
The extent to which it affects players varies. While some occasionally see it, others report being unable to get past the tutorial section of the game because of it.
From what we can tell, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Failed Handshake Timeout issue occurs due to the game’s servers not responding properly to players attempting to connect to them.
Some players have managed to find a temporary fix in using a VPN to connect to matches, but an official fix that removes the problem has yet to be deployed.
Developer Fatshark is aware of the issues and has a dedicated thread for both of them on its forums.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much that players can do to avoid bumping into them at this point in time, aside for waiting for a fix from the developer.
That’s what we know so far about Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s Error Code 4008 and Failed Handshake Timeout issue. For more help with the game, here’s the current server status.
