As you reach the final stages of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader’s first chapter, you’ll need to figure out how to beat the Aurora fight. You’ve likely heard and read the name several times before, but now it’s finally time to deal with the mysterious figure and put a stop to her plans.
Before delving deeper into how to beat Rogue Trader’s Aurora fight, it’s worth noting that this article does contain potential spoilers for the final parts of the first chapter. If you’re fine with that and want to know what’s coming up ahead or are having difficulties figuring out the right approach, read on below.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader First Aurora Fight
Rogue Trader actually features two Aurora fights because, as is often the case when dealing with the Primordial Annihilator’s more devoted minions, defeating them once just won’t cut it.
The first encounter comes up as you reach the final room of the Electrodynamic Cenobium and, while it might be tempting to immediately rush the big bad, an impenetrable shield stops you from doing so.
To make matters worse, you have a limited amount of rounds before the reactor in the room explodes. Since you’re so close to it, that’s certainly something you don’t want to happen. Luckily, there is a way to prevent this.
The key to beating Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s first Aurora fight is defeating the six Electro-Priests spread across the entire room. Two of them are all the way in the back, so you’ll want to keep your party on the move.
What worked for us was splitting our party into two teams – one for each side of the room – and prioritizing the Electro-Priests whenever possible. Accurate Snipers and Cassia’s Held In My Gaze ability proved instrumental, as did Abelard’s ability to quickly charge towards the back of the room and attack several times during his turn.
As you make your way to the Electro-Priests, you’ll also have to deal with cultists. Area of Effect attacks, like a Psychic Staff’s Lightning Arc work wonders in this regard, but clearing up every lesser enemy should be a secondary goal.
Whenever you eliminate an Electro-Priest, you’re awarded more time before the reactor explodes. Killing all six priests allows you to wipe out the remaining enemies at your relative leisure.
Once you’re done, you won’t have to also defeat Aurora in battle here. That is reserved for the first chapter’s grand conclusion.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Second Aurora Fight
Rogue Trader’s second Aurora fight takes place at Rykad Minoris’ Starport, with things predictably going very wrong. Rather than a frail cultist with lots of technological know-how, you’re dealing with an actual Chaos Space Marine.
Not only is this the toughest foe encountered so far, but weaker cultists also flock to Aurora’s aid.
The two things you want to do here is really focus on defeating the Chaos Space Marine as quickly as possible while spreading out your party.
Trust us, you don’t want to get caught eating lead from a heavy bolter’s Barrage ability. We did and can confirm that it hurts.
It’s fine to use area of effect attacks such as Lightning Arc to take out cultists when they threaten to overwhelm you but, as with the prior encounter, leave them for last.
As Rogue Trader’s second Aurora fight progresses, she will begin attempting to take out the nearby shuttles. Since they’re your sole means of leaving the planet, you clearly don’t want that to happen.
This technically functions as a countdown timer of sorts for this encounter, albeit not one that’s explicitly shown on screen.
Aside from unloading everything you have into the big bad herself, any sort of debuff or skill that allows you to take additional turns or attack more often is a godsend.
That is what you need to know about how to beat both of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader’s Aurora fights.
