Developer Owlcat Games is known for the vast quantity of choices it crams into its RPGs and, as many of us are finally setting off to explore the Koronus Expanse in Warharmmer 40,000: Rogue Trader, we’re all wondering if we can become a follower of a Chaos God.
Rogue Trader revolves around a servant of the Imperium of Man who has more leeway than most in terms of how they can approach solving problems. This includes allying with figures that would otherwise be deemed undesirable and using tainted objects to further their goals. Below, we delve into what we know so far about becoming a follower of a Chaos God in the RPG, which does involve potential spoilers for the first part of the game.
Can You Become A Follower of A Chaos God in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader?
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader doesn’t take too long before it introduces Chaos as an active force in its narrative, but whether or not becoming an actual follower of a Chaos God is possible is a bit trickier to answer at this point.
One of the three convictions characters can have is Heretical, which explicitly revolves around giving in to their basest impulses while accepting the offers of various entities who are, without a doubt, devoid of any shred of sanctity.
The prologue itself has one such encounter that can set the protagonist on a potentially darker path.
Characters leaning into the Heretical conviction have the ability to wield tainted weaponry and benefit from psychic phenomena, as their affinity towards the Warp increases.
But whether or not doing so allows you to become an actual follower of a Chaos God in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader remains unclear at the moment.
One the one hand, it’s possible that the Lord Captain can use these methods as a means of advancing the Imperium’s agenda.
On the other, there could be a combination of choices that, later on, might allow the protagonist to engage in full-on worship of one or all Chaos Gods.
We haven’t encountered any way of outright forsaking the Imperium and becoming a zealot of the Primordial Annihilator thus far, but the possibility is certainly hinted at in-game.
We’ll update this article as soon as we know more about whether becoming a follower of a Chaos God is possible in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.
While we learn how far the tendrils of the dark forces stretch, you may want to find out if you can dual wield a ranged and melee weapon alongside what you can expect in terms of cheats.
