Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a loot-based game that rewards you with equipment of different rarities for eliminating countless opponents. Red or Veteran Items are some of the most sought-after pieces of equipment, thanks to their rarity and added bonuses, but how you actually get them might not be obvious from the moment you jump in.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Red Items can be obtained in a couple of ways, but you’ll need to be comfortable completing levels on at least Champion difficulty if you want a good shot at obtaining them. Although they might look similar to their Exotic (Orange), more frequent counterparts, Veteran items have a few advantages.
Although both share 2 properties and one trait, Red Items always have their properties maxed out and start at the 300 Power cap, making them the best gear you can find, at least stats-wise. On top of that, they also come with some pretty awesome skins.
There’s a small chance for them to drop when opening Commendation Chests, but relying solely on this approach won’t get you too far.
The most reliable source of Red Items in Vermintide 2 are Vaults earned by completing missions on the Legend and Cataclysm difficulties. You can also get lucky with General and Emperor chest on Champion difficulty, but at a lower chance.
Naturally, the higher quality of Vault of Chest, the better, so it’s a very good idea to collecting Tomes, Grimoires, and Loot Dies during levels, as they improve the type of container you get at the end, sometimes even making up for Ranald’s random bonus not being on your side.
Once you get a few Veteran Items in Vermintide 2, you can also salvage them to obtain Bright (Red) Dust. Five pieces of Bright Dust are required to upgrade an existing Exotic Item into a Veteran one.
The same amount of Red Dust is required to craft DLC weapons once you’ve unlocked their blueprints, as they don’t seem to drop from chests.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is out now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
