Space Hulk: Tactics is only the latest in a long line of attempted video-game adaptations of the now-ancient board game, and though some of those titles could be described as 'mostly agreeable', the WH40k universe could certainly do better still.
Having said that, it's hard not to admit that Space Hulk: Tactics looks very, very promising indeed. Pitting the Astartes Terminators against the Xeno Genestealers is not a new concept by any stretch of imagination, but the sheer level of quality that seems to be present here is unprecedented.
Aside from a fully-fledged multiplayer mode, Space Hulk: Tactics will also feature two whole campaigns - one for the four Space Marine chapters on offer, and one for the four different Genestealer Hive Fleets. These are set to be non-linear and heavily narratively-driven so that players remain invested until the end.
Also important is the fact that Tactics will let you design and customise your units "down to the last shoulder plate or weapon hilt", which will come as a boon to those of us who enjoy fiddling with how our ingame avatars look.
Space Hulk: Tactics is currently slated for release on 9th of October, and is currently available for pre-order via Steam at a 10% off, which amounts to €35,99 at the time of writing. Should you pre-order the game, you will also get a number of interesting cosmetics for your Astartes!
