World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary event will span the entirety of patch 11.0.5, Blizzard has announced. While it has yet to provide a firm release date, the developer has shared details about how long we can expect it to last alongside the wealth of content that is set to keep up busy during the final months of the year.
If past iterations ran for about three to four weeks, this important milestone for the MMORPG will be celebrated through a special 20th anniversary event that not only lasts “all through the months of November and December,” but taps into our nostalgia and gives us plenty of rewards to pursue.
World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Event Patch 11.0.5
Kicking things off in adequately fiery fashion is the Blackrock Depths raid, which sees the classic dungeon reimagined as an encounter that caters to parties of between 10 and 15 players.
Available on Raid Finder, Normal and Heroic difficulties, it pits adventurers against eight bosses and five minibosses.
Another blast from the past in World of Warcraft’s patch 11.0.5 comes courtesy of Chromie, whose usual time tinkering births a new scenario that spawns various enemies across Silithus.
During it, we’ll face off against several enemy factions, including the Legion, qiraji and Scourge. Starting at level 15, we can use the group finder to join the 10-20 player scenario, which also features familiar baddies such as Tichondrius and Kel’Thuzad.
From there, WoW’s 20th anniversary event introduces a new Timewalking event focused on the original version of several classic dungeons. We’ll revisit the Deadmines, Zul’Farrak, Dire Maul (east and west wings), and Stratholme (living and undead wings) and claim new rewards thanks to a much-needed vendor refresh.
Not only will this event be available to players levels 10 and above, making it a viable alternative leveling path, but it will also join the usual Timewalking rotation going forward.
The nostalgia trip doesn’t end there, as World of Warcraft’s patch 11.0.5 also allows us to chase modernized versions of the iconic Tier 2 armor sets. Better yet, the offering includes pieces for the classes that were not released during the MMORPG’s early days.
You’ll find the names of these sets below and can visit the event’s dedicated article for a thorough look.
- Death Knight: Pale Rider’s Eternal Armor
- Demon Hunter: Netherwalker’s Eternal Armor
- Druid: Stormrage Raiment
- Evoker: Earth-Warder’s Eternal Armor
- Hunter: Dragonstalker Armor
- Mage: Netherwind Regalia
- Monk: Eternal Battlegear of the August Acolyte
- Paladin: Judgement Armor
- Priest: Vestments of Transcendence
- Rogue: Bloodfang Armor
- Shaman: Then Ten Storms
- Warlock: Nemesis Raiment
- Warrior: Battlegear of Wrath
The area just outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris will be considerably busier during WoW’s 20th anniversary event thanks to a slew of other activities that allow us to compete in a smaller version of the Trial of Style, show off mounts, listen to stories, and more.
In addition, world bosses Doomwalker, Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, Dragons of Nightmare, the Sha of Anger, and Archavon the Stonewatcher can be challenged starting at level 15.
WoW’s 20th anniversary event will also debut a brand new type of currency, Bronze Celebration Tokens, which can be used to redeem both new rewards and those from previous events.
As part of patch 11.0.5, the dracthyr will gain access to six other classes, while a new skyriding talent, Squadrons, allows three members of the MMO’s newest race to fly in unison.
Blizzard’s ambitious patch-sized anniversary event is part of its revamped post-launch efforts, which aim to give World of Warcraft: The War Within a similar content cadence to Dragonflight.
Two months should be plenty of time to get a taste of everything on offer and add some new transmog items, mounts, and more to our ever-growing collections.
