X4: Foundation is no stranger to a wide variety of creative total conversion mods, but sometimes you just can’t beat a classic. X4 Star Wars aims to bring the unique universe of this IP to life using the tried-and-true gameplay mechanics of X4: Foundation, and it delivers on that promise quite well.
Currently in the early stages of its production, X4 Star Wars is trucking along at a fair pace. The author is slowly releasing new ships, locations, items, and more as the production continues. Next major content update is slated for the 25th of this month, though we don’t know what that entails, exactly.
According to the mod page, “This mod aims to bring the Star Wars Galaxy into the X4 universe, ships, locations, at the highest quality possible, giving you a chance to live the Star Wars universe where you explore, trade, fight, build and much more.” Since X4: Foundation offers the framework for all of that and lots more, the developer simply needs to keep introducing more content to the mix.
At the forefront of X4 Star Wars are the new lore-friendly ships, which have been sourced from a variety of modders and model creators from across the Internet. Judging by the screenshots and promo materials, some of them wouldn’t be out of place in an AAA release of 2019, even.
While it’s true that the mod is still in very early stages of development, fans of X4: Foundation and Star Wars can give it a shot at any given moment: all you need to do is head on over to our mod page and download the necessary files. If the production continues at the same pace, we’ll be hearing lots more about this fascinating project yet.
