UPDATE JANUARY 20: Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s Steam player count peaks above 219,000 during the game’s second day out.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s surprise launch has quickly seen its Steam concurrent player count pass the 150,000 mark.
The free-to-play online card game is the fifth most played game on Steam at the time of writing, above titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 and the recently released Monster Hunter Rise and just below popular battle royale game Apex Legends.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s Steam concurrent player count peaked at 159,158 on launch day, according to website Steam Database, putting it among January’s biggest releases.
The title’s 10,000 cards are obviously a major draw for both new and long-time fans of the franchise, while features like crossplay and cross-save are added bonuses for those seeking flexibility.
Publisher and developer Konami Digital Entertainment began sharing more details about the game in recent months but hung to a vague winter 2021 launch window prior to the game’s January 19 release.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s Steam player count reached a peak of 219,368 concurrent users the following day.
If you were looking to try out a new and popular online card game, this one looks like a fair bet.
