Valve has announced that this Steam Weekend's free game will be id Software's ambitious shooter Rage. The game will be free to play on Steam, and 75% off for purchases.

id Software co-founder Tim Willits insisted at QuakeCon 2013 that Rage, the 2011 shooter that failed to make waves with fans and critics, is not dead as a property.
Bethesda talks up likelihood of Dishonored sequel, more Rage "to be determined"
Arkane's Dishonored was a knife in the dark, and a very lucrative one at that for Bethesda. Pete Hines says they "try not to wade into anything as a one-off" from the start, and Dishonored appears to fit the bill. Bethesda feels it's a franchise and it will be staying with Arkane. What about id's Rage? Right now the Doom creators are "full bore" on their current project, with Hines "super happy" about their work.

Bethesda has confirmed that videogame veteran Todd Hollenshead as parted ways with the studio he'd run for 17 years, id Software.
Rage toolkit hitting Steam
Bethesda has announced that the official toolkit for Rage is going to be available on Steam shortly. According to the developer, it's the same toolkit was used to developer both Rage and the Scorchers DLC.
