Baldur’s Gate 3 early access was first launched in late 2020, and while the game was still in progress, players could test the waters and play with the available classes in the game. The good news is the game’s about to fully launch on PC, with more refined gameplay, story mode, new classes and options, and much more.
The other news is that developers at Larian Studios have warned players to delete their old save files from Early Access to avoid possible conflicts between the two versions. So, how exactly can you do this? In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find your Baldur’s Gate 3 save file location and how to delete them.
Baldur's Gate 3 Save File Location
You can delete your Baldur’s Gate 3 early access save files in two ways. The first one is by locating your save file location from Windows Explorer and deleting them manually.
Your Baldur’s Gate 3 save file should be located in C: > Users > Username > AppData > Local > Larian Studios > Baldur’s Gate 3.
Once you’ve found the Baldur’s Gate 3 folder, all you need to do is remove or delete everything in it, including the saves. Make sure to turn off your cloud saves in Steam as well when installing the fully released game, just to be safe.
How to Delete Save Files in Baldur's Gate 3
Another more straightforward method to remove your early access save file is by removing it within the game. To do so, all you need to do is follow the steps below:
- Launch Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Select Load Game in the main menu.
- Click your old campaigns, and select Delete Campaign.
Remember that other than deleting your save files, you’ll also need to uninstall the Early Access version and remove existing mods. This is to prevent the game from having issues. The last thing you want to happen is experience game-breaking bugs while venturing into the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
