No matter where you’re heading in Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s always something to discover along the way. From chests and weapons to armor, camp supplies, and even the hidden Goblin stash, there’s plenty to uncover.
In BG3, each item has a specific weight that contributes to your inventory limit. The more items you accumulate, the more quickly you’ll approach this limit. Once the total weight of your items surpasses a certain threshold, your character will receive an “encumbered” debuff. This will slow down your character’s movement, making careful management of your inventory essential.
Understanding this, it becomes vital to learn how to sort your inventory in BG3. By sorting your inventory, you’ll be able to manage your items more easily, identifying which ones you can discard to free up space or sell. Here’s how you can accomplish that.
How to Sort Your Inventory in BG3
To sort your inventory, you’ll first need to open it. You can do this by pressing the tab key on your keyboard to bring up your entire party’s inventory.
In the inventory menu, you’ll notice a small sorting icon near the top-left corner. Click on this icon, and a small window of sorting options will appear. On this window, you can sort your inventory by the latest value, weight, or type by selecting one of the options.
And that’s not all. Baldur’s Gate 3 also offers more specific sorting options to help you organize your items effectively. On the right side of the sorting icon, there’s a small search bar that allows you to group your items based on their categories, such as Equipment, Potions, Scrolls, Arrows, Throwables, and Camp Supplies.
This functionality is incredibly useful for organizing your equipment by category, sparing you the hassle of manually searching through a cluttered inventory. Moreover, the game allows you to sort inventory for individual characters. To do this, simply left-click the specific character on the left side of your screen and repeat the steps as described above.
