Ellen Ripley, the latest survivor to enter the fog in Dead by Daylight’s PTB, brings with her a perk that’s creating buzz throughout the community. Although her teachable perks are unlike Nicholas Cage’s amusing Plot Twist, one of her perks introduces more counterplay opportunities against various killers.
Chemical Trap, a unique perk from Ellen Ripley, empowers survivors to set a trap within dropped pallets. If you’re curious about what occurs when the killer attempts to break the trapped pallet, they will experience a slowdown for a few seconds, granting you a chance to escape or exit the loop.
Like many other interactive perks, activating this one demands some effort. Here’s a guide on how to utilize the Chemical Trap perk in DBD.
How to Use the Chemical Trap Perk in Dead by Daylight
To deploy a Chemical Trap within a pallet, you must first achieve a specific amount of progress on a generator. The required progress varies with the perk level: at the lowest level, you must repair a generator to at least 70% completion, while the highest level requires only 50% completion.
You’ll recognize when the perk is ready for use, as it will be highlighted. Once activated, you can press the default Active Ability button, “E”, to set a Trap near a dropped pallet.
Upon installation, the aura of the trapped pallet will be displayed to all other survivors in yellow, and depending on the perk level, will remain active for 100/110/120 seconds.
Unlike the Blast Mine perk, which explodes when the killer kicks a trapped generator, killers can detect a pallet trapped with the Chemical Trap. They may either ignore it, risking an endless loop, or destroy it, accepting the penalty of being slowed by -50% for 4 seconds and dealing with temporary impaired vision resembling icy smoke.
Since setting up the Chemical Trap takes time, it’s advisable to avoid using it on just any pallet. Aim to place it on a “god pallet,” such as the pallet in the killer shack, which forces the killer to circumnavigate the shack to pursue you. Other god pallets are typically located in the main building, where numerous windows and escape routes add to the challenge for the killer.
