Cult classics incoming! LucasArts have revealed their super genius plans to the world finally; they’re going to flood us with ten old titles tomorrow.
Partnering with Steam, a slew of back-catalogue games will be going digital from the LucasArts vault, which is said to be ”just the beginning.” It’s all exclusive to Steam for now.
”This is the first time these titles have ever been on digital distribution, and it’s something we’re all very excited about,” LucasArts CEO Darrell Rodriguez told Joystiq.
While admitting that retail bundles are ”something to definitely consider” for the team, they have ”no plans for them right now.” July 8th brings the ”first round of releases” says LucasArts.
What can fans expect to see tomorrow? Here’s the list from the press release:
•Armed and Dangerous
•Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
•Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
•LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
•LOOM
•Star Wars Battlefront II
•Star Wars Republic Commando
•Star Wars Starfighter
•The Dig
•Thrillville: Off the Rails
Really old with some old. ”This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games,” said Rodriguez. ”We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning.”
Are you excited at what LucasArts might have in its ‘second wave’? They may extend these revivals to other platforms outside of PC, specifically something on iPhone maybe… ”wink wink, nod, nod.” The company are also ”definitely investigating” the new PSP GO from Sony.
