They dumped all of Mass Effect 2’s assets into the ”Mass Effect 3 engine,” confirmed BioWare. The PS3 version also includes all DLC released.
So that’s all the extra downloadable content, an interactive comic with decisions to make explaining Mass Effect 1’s story, and Mass Effect 3’s new shinier engine. Don’t forget there’s a demo coming to the PlayStation Network this December 22nd.
”One of the first things you’re going to see is improved graphics,” said BioWare producer Jesse Houston in a PS3 Mass Effect 2 podcast by the studio.
”We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3. So we took the content, the story and all of the other assets that made up Mass Effect 2 and we put it into the Mass Effect 3 engine.”
”We’ve also gone ahead and made the experience much more solid on PS3,” he added. ”So for example the controls are geared towards the PS3 controller”, although ”you can switch it back to the old Xbox if you like. Other things like planet scanning have been improved; we’ve rolled up all of the patches; done a whole bunch of bug fixing.”
Mass Effect 2 releases on PS3 January 21st, and Houston confirmed it’s ‘finished’. At the Spike VGAs BioWare officially announced Mass Effect 3. Excited? You should be.
