It’s not a good time to be an EA dev as the publisher looks to make some big ”team size adjustments” as many titles are done, ready for the holiday.
Reports say as many as 100 staff have been let go, with EA Canada and Black Box hit the hardest by these ”common and vital” staff size fluctuations.
”As you know, seasonal roll-offs that follow game launches are common and vital to maintaining a healthy business. Because so many of our games ship in the holiday quarter, the team size adjustments tend to follow in the same timeframe,” said EA corporate communication rep Jeff Brown. This is the 3rd year of these ‘roll-offs’.
”However, EA is growing and several of our studios are looking to hire talented people.” Hopefully that means whoever got the boot has been given a chance to go work for another of EA’s many studios. The publisher confirms no figures for the redundancies.
