Interplay has been a busy little bee lately, as the publisher seems to be resurrecting legendary developer/publisher Black Isle Studios.
The publisher has opened up an official site, a Facebook page and a Twitter account.
According to the Facebook page, which features a Baldur’s Gate logo, ”Black Isle Studios is a division of Interplay formed to develop and publish high quality role-playing games.
Mission: Black Isle Studios is a division of Interplay formed to develop and publish high quality, commercially successful computer role-playing games.”
[The logo on the Facebook page is that of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II, which may indicate Dark Alliance III is on its way.]
The official site is even more blunt: “Our goal has always been to make the world’s best RPGs. Black Isle Studios is back.”
If it is indeed back, can we see new Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale games? One may remember Chris Avellone expressing his desire to develop a spiritual sequel to Planescape: Torment - perhaps this will allow him to drop the “spiritual” part.
