Lead Designer Simon Bradbury for Stronghold Crusader 2 has detailed the return of the Caliph, which the studio regard as ”one of the more negative Arab leaders” who doesn’t care much for allies.
His favourite defense tactic is to employ fire traps, meaning if you don’t commit enough soldiers and give him time to rebuild, you’ll be going through scores of fiery losses again.
The Caliph has one thing on his mind: ”conquer all in the desert.” However he’s careful not to overreach leaving himself without suitable strongholds.
”Taking no prisoners, the Caliph employs his own brand of barbaric tactics to burn his enemies and conquer all in the desert. He is one of the most aggressive AI characters in the game, likely to attack players early on in the game and use fiery pitch traps as a means of defending his castle.”
Stronghold Crusader 2 is available to pre-order and pledge to now to help fund development. Out on PC March 2014. The Caliph is one of eight AI characters in the game, with each having their own strongholds, troops and tactics.
