Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut brings the ‘polarizing’ survival horror game to desktops, but it’s now causing a stir not for its content, but for its locked resolution at 720p.
Already an alpha build of a mod is in the works proving communities are sometimes better at finishing games than their creators. Speaking of which…
Hidetaka ‘Swery65’ Suehiro, the creator of Deadly Premonition, has taken to twitter to apologise: ”To all the fans of Deadly Premonition. As usual, The steam version evaluation seems to be polarizing. Sorry it is seems to give some unsatisfied. I’m embarrassed that problem give you big disappointment. Anyway, thank you. Please enjoy. I love you all!”
NeoGAF user Durante, who hacked and slashed Dark Souls for more eye popping graphics, has taken up the challenge of correcting this mighty 720p-only injustice. He’s already at alpha build 0.1 for Deadly Premonition, but there’s plenty of work left to get it right. Messing with resolution sizes can have severe knock-on effects.
Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut released on PC yesterday, October 29th.
