Ubisoft has released two episodes in a dev diary series called The Journey for the upcoming Ghost Recon Phantoms. The studio behind it explains how the project started and where they decided to take it.
It went from Future Soldier to Online, and dropped retail for free-to-play. Next week will see the release of Ghost Recon Phantoms as the team focus on the PC version, with Wii U on hold.
Free-to-play was something the team try for the first time and so they opted to use the ‘pay-as-you-go’ model for this new Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. The two dev diary episodes below explore ”inheriting the Ghost Recon Brand” and the team ”learning, testing and adapting”. Ghost Recon Phantoms releases on PC April 10th.
Ubisoft Singapore is primarily behind Phantoms, but the team is global, which is ‘advantageous and challenging’.
