Publisher Kalypso and developer Realmforge Studios have announced that dungeon building sequel Dungeons 2 is coming next year, and oddly enough it looks like it’s heading to the great outdoors. Hey chaps, isn’t the point of a dungeon builder that it happens underground?
The original Dungeons had its moments, but it never reached the heights of Bullfrog’s classic Dungeon Keeper series (well most of them. Thanks EA…). Can it go one step further this time?
“Sequel to the 2011 bestseller Dungeons,” says Kalypso, ”Dungeons 2 aims to take inspiration from the very best titles in the dungeon management/simulation genre and blend in its own trademark dark humour to deliver the most complete dungeon experience fans have been waiting for.”
Rather than just waiting for foolish heroes to enter your underground realm, you’ll be able to head topside to invade their cities for once. Realmforge mentions something called the ’˜Hand of Terror’, which you can use to take direct control over your units. There’s also going to be four-player multiplayer alongside the solo campaign.
We’ll have to wait until next year to get our hands on Dungeons 2, but Realmforge is bringing the game to Gamescom this month, so we’ll get a closer look at it then.
