As DICE and EA promised us yesterday, the first details of Battlefield 4’s final DLC content pack, Final Stand, have emerged. Players will be heading off to the arctic regions of Russia, where they’ll encounter the very latest in military technology.
Four new maps will be set in a “wintry landscape”, in which players should ”expect intense, infantry-focused combat.”
Though the trailer above doesn’t really show it off (apart from a hover tank near the beginning), you’ll be fighting your way through hidden bases packed with ”high-tech prototype weapons, gadgets and vehicles”. The soldier on the front cover image is holding a rail gun that fires a single round of ”powerful kinetic energy”, and DICE promise more surprises when the DLC drops.
The developers started testing the new content on the Community Test Environment (CTE) yesterday, so if you’ve got access to that through a Premium account you can get stuck in right now. If you don’t own a Premium account you can sign up here.
We’ve had the Second World War, then we did modern military conflict for a bit. Is near future warfare the next big thing for every shooter franchise? Not that I’m suggesting a lack of originality in the genre or anything…
