The Cities XL franchise has a new family member as today Focus Home Interactive announce Cities XXL, which is a ”bigger, better city builder” looking to stretch those city limits even further.
A teaser trailer has been released, with Cities XXL containing over 1,000 buildings, over 70 maps with new landscapes and environments, as well as new ecological gameplay features.
”As you’ll see in the video, CitiesXXL lets you design and build a sprawling metropolis across many different landscapes and maps, with varying available resources – from oil to fertile farm land – to keep the denizens of your city content. Featuring four classes of citizens spanning four densities of housing, you’ll watch as your cosmopolitan paradise grows from a quiet suburban town to huge economic powerhouse,” blurbs the official Cities XL website.
Road layouts have been extensively worked over with regional differences between countries promised to appear.
”Cities XXL features low-level city management mechanics, such as local air and noise pollution levels illustrated with the new stream-lined UI, and beauty hot-spots suitable for holiday locations to supplement cash-flow.”
We can also spend a great amount of time tracking specific individuals as they go about their day to try and improve the city’s infrastructure. Each citizen has their own designated home and workplace, unlike a certain other city building sim.
Cities XXL also supports the Steam Workshop to share content among the community with ”streamlined modding,” as city sims live and die by their customisation options.
”With Cities XXL, you’ll be able to use widely available free tools online to create your content and upload it to the Steam Workshop, for all players to download it right through Steam!”
Cities XXL will release on PC in 2015.
