As the Good Old Games (GOG) library expands in 2024, it continues to offer a convenient platform for purchasing and playing classic PC games, from the DOS/Win98 era up to the mid-2000s. Alongside a selection of exclusive titles, GOG continues to provide a growing collection of free games each month, making it the best destination for fans of retro gaming.
Last year’s selection on GOG featured a diverse array of games, including major AAA titles, unique indie games, and games from DOS and the Win98 Era. Highlights included Alien Breed Trilogy, Figment, Alwa’s Awakening, Deep Sky Derelicts, Final Liberation, Sunblaze, Crusader Kings 2, Sigma Theory, Betrayer, King’s Bounty: The Legend, and Styx Shards of Darkness.

What's free this week on the Good Old Games Store
GOG doesn’t give out free games too often, we normally see over a dozen given away over a year. Notably, these giveaways mostly happen during sale events like Summer Sale and Halloween Sale so you may see more activity on this page during those months. For example, it’s not nearly as frequent as the Epic Games Store.
To access these free titles, simply set up a GOG account, navigate to the storefront’s section dedicated to free games, and proceed as if making a regular purchase.
While you’ll need to add the games to your cart, they are offered at no cost. It’s important to remember that to claim these games, you must add them to your library during their free period - normally 48 hours.

Mordheim: City of the Damned

From humble beginnings, you start with a handful of Dwarves who need to set up their operations quickly. However, as you progress, your small clan will expand and become known throughout the Overworld for their skill and premium craftsmanship.

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War brings you to a world of terror and violence with the first turn-based 4X strategy game set in the Warhammer universe. Face challenging AI or cooperate or compete with friends and strangers across the globe.
Shadows: Awakening
Shadows: Awakening is the new adventure in the Heretic Kingdoms saga. After the members of the secret council known as the Penta Nera are assassinated, their souls are consumed by the Devourers – evil demons who possess the ability to absorb the memories and personalities of the souls they acquire and materialize them as their puppets.
The First Templar - Special Edition

Once Upon a Jester

Best friends Sok & Jester devise a mischievous scheme to steal the Royal Diamond. To complete their master plan, they must start an improv theatre show and outperform every other act - including their rivals, Hofnar & Bok. Only becoming the best show in the kingdom will get them invited to the Royal Theatrical Spectacle in the Royal Palace, where the king keeps his precious gem.
Return of the Phantom
Free on the GOG Store: 31 October - 3 November
As Inspector Raoul Montand, you are the only one who can pursue the Red Death into the past and prevent him from terrorizing the present. This point-and-click adventure originally released by MicroProse in 1993 features a fully voiced cast of characters with fluid animations, a tense and thrilling story penned by James Bond novelist Raymond Benson, and an atmospheric soundtrack that sets the perfect mood for this new take on a classic story.
