Why would Microsoft share all that money from a big motion picture with a major studio? The corporate giant instead continues to explore ”many elements,” like TV and toys.
The franchise didn’t need any major studio sugar daddy to help bring Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn out. Microsoft is content to just pinch a director now and then.
”The Halo franchise encompasses many elements, including games, action figures, novels and more,” Microsoft told Eurogamer. ”As always, we have many projects in the works that offer us the opportunity to bring in new audiences to the franchise, as we did in the past with Halo Legends and Halo: Forward Unto Dawn.”
”We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time.” Microsoft are pushing digital content delivery even more with Xbox One, trying to position themselves as an alternate to cable TV. They have a sizeable audience already captivated for more Halo.
These latest Halo movie rumblings are just the latest in a long line. What is known for sure is that Steven Spielberg, that other alien guy, is working with Halo developer 343 Industries on a Halo TV series. A movie was almost underway but eventually collapsed back in 2007 with then director Neill Blomkamp going on to make District 9.
