I might not personally be spending a lot of time with Goat Simulator, but I’m still sort of glad that it’s out there mocking every single video game trope you can think of.
The latest free update turns developer Coffee Stain’s satirical (sort of, but mainly amusingly stupid) eye on to the humble MMO, poking fun at overfamiliar mechanics and lazy game design.
It’s not entirely clear what you’ll be able to get up to in the upcoming update, but you will be able to choose from six rote fantasy classes; tank, rogue, hunter, rogue, magician and microwave. Okay, five rote fantasy classes. Other than that it looks like the same anarchic nonsense we’ve come to expect.
Alone amongst the increasingly tiresome ‘comedy simulator’ genre, it seems like Goat Simulator actually has a sense of humour and a comic touch. Even a jaded husk like me finds the image of a carefree goat leaping onto a medieval knight’s back amusing.
Goat Simulator MMO drops this November 20, and it’s free on Steam.
