Publisher Areia has revealed that F.E.A.R Online, the free-to-play multiplayer spin-off of the popular horror series, is coming to Steam this October 17.
If you want to try it out before then you can sign up on the game’s website for a chance to enter the open Beta through the Areia Games’ portal service.
F.E.A.R Online brings both PvP multiplayer and a co-op singleplayer campaign, and developer InPlay Interactive has apparently listened to fan feedback from previous Beta tests, adding ”new maps, a new scenario, and a redesigned crafting system which allows for making one-of-a-kind weapons”.
More interesting modes include Soul King, where one player takes on the role of a ghost who can possess and control his opponents, and another team deathmatch mode where players can transform into a horrifying beastie.
The co-op campaign takes place around the same time as F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, and sees players take on the PMC goons of the nefarious Armacham corporation, as well as hideous monsters summoned from the mind of the powerful psychic Alma.
Hop on over to the game’s Steam page this October 17 to download the game client.
