One of the new additions that the upcoming Scholar of the First Sin remastered edition adds to Dark Souls 2 is an NPC invader known as The Forlorn.
Hunting players down “with deadly skill and tenacity”, The Forlorn will show up at inopportune times to carve you into pieces with his mighty zweihander.
From Software clearly thinks players got off a bit lightly in the original game. Whereas most NPC invaders turn up once per area, The Forlorn takes a leaf out of Kirk, Knight of Thorns’ book (hopefully he’s a bit more competent, because let’s face it, Kirk was useless), and menaces the player throughout their journey. He can even team up with other players to invade your realm, the cheeky sod.
I’m still not all that happy with the concept of repackaging a game that’s been out under a year and asking players to shell out another forty pounds on it, but it does at least sound like there’s some fun content in there.
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is due for release this April on PC and consoles, and comes with various new features and a graphical upgrade.
