Bulgarian developer Haemimont Games is working on several projects after being acquired by Swedish publisher Paradox Interactive. The news was shared by Fredrik Wester, the CEO of Paradox, during a livestream that aired today.
Although he didn’t provide extensive details on each of these upcoming games, it sounds like the studio is involved in three projects that fall within the management game genre.
Haemimont Games Working “on a couple of different projects” With Paradox Interactive
“Haemimont are working with us on a couple of different projects,” CEO Fredrik Wester said in a livestream dedicated to the publisher’s Q1 2025 interim financial report, “[…] one that you will probably recognize to some extent […], two others that you probably won’t recognize, but it’s gonna be great.”
He went on to explain that Paradox Interactive acquired the Sofia-based developer because it is “one of the best studios, if not the best studio in the world at making management games, and that’s what they’re going to continue doing with us as well.”
These projects will have familiar gameplay with the “nice Haemimont feel” the Sofia-based studio has infused in the games on which their popularity was built. Paradox then hopes to “add some extra flavor” as development progresses.
CFO Alexander Bricca also noted that “there is a long play” to the publisher’s acquisition of the Stranded: Alien Dawn IP earlier this month, which Haemimont developed in partnership with Frontier Developments.
While he admitted that owning both the studio and the IP makes developing future content easier, he concluded by saying that “as of today, we have nothing to share regarding any such plans.”
The recognisable title Wester mentions could be Stranded: Alien Dawn, but we might also see Haemimont Games returning to Surviving Mars, the 2018 sci-fi city builder that birthed the Surviving series but whose attempted revival in 2021 didn’t quite pan out.
Although Paradox Interactive is taking a more measured approach to fully committing to new games following the cancellation of Life By You, its push towards establishing itself further in the management space will likely gain momentum over the coming years now that Haemimont has joined its ranks.
