Gothic series creator Piranha Bytes have teamed with Nordic Games as they work on a new open world RPG called ELEX. It’s a post-apocalyptic universe with a science fantasy setting, and it will be in attendance at Gamescom.
The developer enjoys ”ample creative freedom” with the new IP, which they describe as a ”handcrafted” RPG with ”deep moral choices and powerful action.” It’s in development for PC and consoles.
”Apart from being enthusiastic about the cooperation with Nordic Games, it is great to know, that we will have ample creative freedom with ELEX, which is a very important factor for us,” said Björn Pankratz, Game Director at the studio. ”We can’t wait to show you a completely new game experience with a fresh setting, new assets and plenty of possibilities.”
Gamescom 2015 runs August 5-9 in Cologne, Germany. Piranha Bytes most recent IP series has been Risen which last released in August 2014 with Titan Lords.
