Any good space 4X game needs a solid cast of intergalactic foes and friendlies to keep players occupied, and genre classic Master of Orion was no exception. This new video from developer NGD Studios, currently hard at work on a series reboot, shows off two returning factions - the big-headed (physically and figuratively) Psilon Quanta, and the aggressive, reptile Sakkra.
The former are a technologically-minded race who prefer to settle on larger planets and construct research bases in their search for answers to the galaxy’s big questions. The Sakkra, meanwhile, are a little more interested in getting into space punch-ups with any race unfortunate enough to pass by.
In more general terms there’s a first look at the game’s familiar 4X systems. Space exploration is shown off, as are ship construction and combat. The latter opts for a zoomed-out view, largely hand-off.
Hard to tell too much about the gameplay without a hands-on, of course, but Master of Orion certainly seems to capture some of the spirit of the original. Still no word on a release date just yet.
