One of the problems with adapting old board-games, as Evil Twin Artworks is currently doing with Man O’ War: Corsair, is that you have to take a bunch of tiny plastic figures and convert them into actual-scale working models.
That’s especially tricky when you’re working in the Warhammer universe, where naval vessels are actual floating castles complete with rampart and crenelations.
”The Greatship (an Imperial vessel) offered new challenges because it’s a floating castle,” explains the developer. ”That makes it more difficult to bring into the real world. We did try and use as many references as we could, one of them being the Mary Rose, which has some similar traits as the Greatship.”
Perhaps wisely, the team’s waiting a while to show off the ramshackle fleets or the Orks, Skaven and other non-human races, which will have absolutely no basis in history. For more on Man O’ War: Corsair, check out our recent interview with the team at Evil Twin.
