The destruction derby-styled racer FlatOut is making a comeback announces Strategy First, who regard it as ”our most important franchise.” They’re looking for an avalanche of community input for the new racer.
Kylotonn Entertainment will be handling development and the partnership promises to deliver ”everything that originally made FlatOut such a great title.” The team want to introduce new twists to the formula too.
The original FlatOut released back in late 2004 for PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It delighted race fans with its unapologetic ‘deathmatch’ style of destructive racing. Physics play a large role in the obliteration of cars and special challenges had the player ‘ejecting’ the driver from the car.
FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage was the last in the series to be created by original developer Bugbear Entertainment back in 2007. The studio is currently developing Next Car Game: Wreckfest which adopts a lot of what made the FlatOut series so addictive.
”FlatOut is our most important franchise. There is a strong vocal community that have numerous constructive ideas and suggestions on what they would like to experience in an all new FlatOut. We would like to invite anyone who is a fan of FlatOut to be part of the process. We are excited about our partnership with Kylotonn Entertainment,” said Strategy’s Emanuel Wall.
”Strategy First and Kylotonn will create an exciting FlatOut experience. The online game community will still have everything that originally made FlatOut such a great title. While at the same time we here at Kylotonn will introduce and create new experiences and moments that we think people will love,“ added Roman Vincent of Kylotonn.
More details about the new FlatOut will be available later in the year but we do know it’s in development for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
