Hi-Rez Studios’ fun, action-focused MOBA Smite is now available to download and play via Steam. Servers are integrated, so players who choose Valve’s platform will be able to connect and play with non-Steam users.
”Steam reaches a huge audience of PC gamers and we want to make it easy for that audience to try out Smite. Certainly we’re very pleased with Smite’s growth to date—according to game industry leaderboards such as Raptr, Smite is consistently one of the top ten most played PC games even before being available on Steam,” says Hi Rez co-founder Todd Harris. ”That said, we suspect there are a bunch of PC gamers worldwide who have yet to discover Smite, and Steam will help with that.”
If you’re one of those who’s yet to discover it, Smite is a third-person spin on familiar MOBA mechanics, which sees various gods from different theologies clash together in five-versus-five battles. It’s a game where Hercules can punch Osiris in the head, and deserves no small amount of credit just for that.
If you’re a Smite player already you won’t have to change or edit your account at all to play on Steam. There’s a more in-depth FAQ over on the game’s forums.
