Codemasters has teased in their official blog that F1 2016 will be coming next year, and that it will represent a new step in the series with a surprise awaiting.
According to the studio, F1 2016 is currently in production. ”Most of the team have now moved onto F1 2016 and are working on some new and exciting features, including a couple of must-haves which we know are important to you,” stated PR manager Jenny Rainford..
Rainford explained some of the timetable for the game’s development, with an early 2016 target for a testable build. After that, the studio intends to have select players ”get (their) hands on the latest code for some early impressions & feedback.” However, she was unable to pin down how long testing, both internal and external, would be.
Finally, Rainford teased some major features for the series that would shape the future of the series at the core level.
”Beyond F1 2016, we’re also looking at ways in which we can get you more involved in the shaping of the series’ future from the very beginnings of the design phase too,” she wrote, ”before the features have to be locked down, so hopefully much more on this a bit further down the line… for now I just wanted to whet your appetite!
Speculation has that F1 2016 and future games would include a persistent online racing career mode, but that remains pure speculation. In the meantime, F1 2015 will be receiving a major patch next week.
