Funcom has a decent amount of experience with the Conan franchise. They are, after all, the developer that worked on the critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures back in 2008. Now it would appear that they’ll be bringing us back to Conan’s realm again, having announced a new partnership with license owner Conan Properties today.
The details of this new partnership were announced officially in a press release on Funcom’s website. Specifically, the two companies’ new partnership means the confirmation of three new Conan games to be announced in 2016.
”Working with Funcom through the years has been a rewarding and very enjoyable journey,” said CEO of Conan Properties Fredrik Malmberg. ”Making them our preferred partner for all PC and console games based on ‘Conan the Barbarian’ is the next step on that great journey. Funcom has shown they are more than capable of managing the rich heritage of Conan and to breathe new life into the world of Hyboria, and we are thrilled to be working together on new, exciting projects.”
Specifically, the first of those projects is said to be based on the Conan the Barbarian franchise and a formal announcement is slated for release sometime in January 2016. Want to revisit the last runs at the Conan franchise? We’ve got you covered here.
