There’s a new Overlord from Codemasters, except this time the focus is on a four-player co-op action RPG of mayhem. Players take the role of Netherghūls, who must band together to fight a world ”overrun by the forces of good.”
The ”moronic minions” return and will be under the command of players, but it seems the series is moving on from single-player. The co-op action RPG is scripted by author Rhianna Pratchett.
We’ve been scheming about a new Overlord for some time,” said Rob Elser, Executive Producer Minion. “We really wanted to do something that would allow us be evil alongside our friends, instead of the normal heroics in every other game.”
“The idea of playing as a team of bad guys commanding Minions to do our utmost bidding, while also causing chaos for each other, just really made us smile. And as you know, an Overlord game never takes itself too seriously.”
These four characters were brought back ”in the absence of a true Overlord”, reads the Codemasters blog, so there’s hope yet a true Overlord game with full minion and evil tower privileges still lies on the horizon. Check out the first developer diary below for ‘why this isn’t Overlord 3’.
Overlord: Fellowship of Evil releases on PC digitally this year for £14.99 / $19.99 / €19.99.
