Double Fine has re-secured the rights to its World War I tower defense shooter Iron Brigade, which debuted on Xbox back in 2011, and hit the PC a year later. The studio’s not only gained the rights to self-publish their game, they’ve also scooped up the IP itself - I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a sequel at some point.
To celebrate the news, Double Fine has released an update to the Steam version of the game, which adds various bug fixes and improvements, and replaces the original matchmaking (goodbye, Game for Windows Live) with Steamworks support.
“The great thing about this change is that now there are no obstacles to us creating the best possible experience for players,” said the game’s creator, Brad Muir. “We have fixed all known issues as well as provided a great matchmaking experience for multiplayer. Vlad and his Monovision Menace are on the move again! In the best possible way!”
Iron Brigade gives players control of a giant battle mech, or ‘mobile trench’, and has them march around the battlefields of Europe blowing the alien Monovisions. It’s currently available for 80% off on Steam.
